Good Morning and Welcome to St. Mary’s Church

The flowers on the Altar today are given to the glory of God and in thanksgiving for the birthday of Mrs. Effie Scott by her son Jimmy.

Welcome today to our visitors from Wake Forest Divinity School as they make their Urban Pilgrimage this week to New York City under the leadership of the Rev. Dr. Douglas Bailey. We also welcome delegates from the UN Conference on the Status of Women and give God thanks for their justice making ministries. Thank you very much!

TIME CHANGE: NEXT SUNDAY, MARCH 14: Time to “Spring Forward!” Set your clock ahead one hour before you go to sleep next Saturday night, otherwise you will be an hour late to Church next Sunday. Be sure to go to bed an hour early so that you don’t lose any sleep. Don’t worry, we’ll get the hour back in the Fall!

Rev. Billy and the Church of Stop Shopping: Friday, March 12 at 8:00 pm here at St. Mary’s Church. Sponsored by the Coalition to Preserve Community. Come for this fun and spirit-filled evening for our community effort to insure that the Columbia University expan-sion plan serves the needs of all the people in our neighborhood.  Come on out, tell your neighbors, friends and family as we rock the Church for our community!

Columbia Security Guards: Come to a vigil for their right to organize a union, Thursday, March 25 5-7 pm at the Columbia University gates, 116th Street and Broadway.

Time to Stand Up and Be Counted: the 2010 Census form will be mailed to you next week. It is important for our community that all people are counted. Please tell your friends, family members and neighbors to look for the census form and fill it out and return it. Thank you so much for your help!

MNIPC Evening Prayer at St. Mary’s: Wednesday, March 17th at 7:00 pm we will host our sisters and brothers from our neighboring Harlem Episcopal congregations at Evening Prayer and a light fellowship meal following. If you can help with the service or fellowship, please let Rev. Kooperkamp or Gloria Smith know. Thank you!!

Harlem African Burial Ground: Senate Hearing March 19, 2:00  – 4:00 pm, Elmendorf Reformed Church, 171 East 121st Street. This is for official governmental records, the MTA and DOT are mandated to be at this hearing.

Property Committee Meeting: March 19th at 5:30 pm. See Liz Mellen for information.

Vestry Meeting: Tuesday, March 23rd at 5:30 pm. All are invited to attend.

Eccelsia: Marcus Garvey Park: Sundays at 2:00 pm. St. Mary’s is the lead congregation on the first and third Sunday each month. We will need a few volunteers to help make bag lunches after the 10:00 am service today. Also: St. Mary’s Homeless Street Outreach: Saturdays, 12 noon preparation and 2:00 pm street outreach. Please let us know if you can help and please keep the Homeless Street Outreach in your prayers. Thank you!!

Episcopal Church Women’s Prayer Committee next Sunday, March. 14th following the 10:00 am service. All women are invited.
