Appreciative Inquiry “Envisioning Our Future”: Today following the 10:00 am service, we will continue our Appreciative Inquiry process that we started the Sunday after Easter 2008. A light lunch will be served. This is a time to talk together and to discern where God is calling us in pursuit of God’s mission. All are invited & urged to attend.

Micah Institute: Educating for Justice The Micah Institute at New York Theological Seminary will celebrate its opening at St. Mary’s Church, Monday, April 12 at 7:00 pm. Come hear Rev. Ron Sider, President Dale Irwin of NYTS and President Serene Jones of Union Seminary and support St. Mary’s Choir as we kick off this important new ministry for New York and the world. Shakuhachi Flute Concert: Japanese bamboo flute music, Friday, April 16th at 7:00 pm. Ancient Temple music of Japan performed by Gary Yugetsu Sharp. Donation requested, proceeds to benefit St. Mary’s Church.

Spring concert: Music at St. Mary’s with guest harpist Brandee Younger. Sunday, April 25th at 3:00 pm. Music by DeBussy, Mozart and more. $15 general admission, $10 seniors/students. Come support our talented Church members & neighborhood musicians.

Cropwalk: Join the 10th annual appeal from Church World Service to help eliminate hunger around the world, including our own neighborhood of West Harlem with support for St. Mary’s Food Pantry and Homeless Street Outreach. The Cropwalk will rake place on April 25, 2010 at 2:00 pm beginning at Church of the Heavenly Rest, Fifth Avenue and 90th Street. Please use the Cropwalk envelope to make a contribution and please be generous. St. Mary’s support has been very good in the past and we hope to have good support this year. Eastertide Tuesdays: Pray and Bible Study – During Eastertide we will gather on Tuesday evenings for prayer and Bible Study. We will begin with prayers for peace at 6:30 pm and follow with an “African Bible Study” All are invited as we seek to follow the new light in our lives given to us in our savior Jesus.

The Episcopal Church Women’s Prayer Committee will meet Sunday, April 18, following the 10:00 am service. (This is to accommodate the Appreciative Inquiry on April 11th; regular meetings are the second Sunday) All women are invited.

The Men’s Monthly Prayer Group will meet Saturday, April 24th at 8:00 am. All men are welcome and we’d love to have you join us!

The Episcopal Church Women will meet on Sunday, April 25th following the 10:00 am service. All women are invited. Please see Ms. Glenda White for more information.

Mariam, Mark and Marx, a monthly study and discussion group, will meet at 7:00 pm on Thursday, April 29. Please see Jim White for more information.

More Announcements:

An Important Note from the Vestry: The Styrofoam cups we use at Coffee Hour following the service were donated to St. Mary’s by Morningside Gardens. Once we have used these up, we will only purchase paper products and cease using Styrofoam in order to take better care of God’s earth.

Eccelsia: Marcus Garvey Park: Sundays at 2:00 pm. St. Mary’s is the lead congregation on the first and third Sunday each month. Today we need a few volunteers following the service to help make up the bag lunches. Also: St. Mary’s Homeless Street Outreach: Saturdays, 12 noon preparation and 2:00 pm street outreach. Please let us know if you can help and please keep the Homeless Street Outreach in your prayers. Thank you!!
