Welcome Deacon Jackie!
the Rev. Dn. Jacqueline Sanchez-Shabazz begins TODAY, Sunday, May 12!
St. Mary’s has been blessed by the assignment of a Deacon to assist in our worship, prayer, and ministries. Deacon Jackie has most recently served the Church of the Good Shepherd, Manhattan.
What is a Deacon?
Every Christian is called to follow Jesus Christ, serving God, through the power of the Holy Spirit. God calls Deacons to a special ministry of servanthood directly under the bishop. In the name of Jesus Christ, they are to serve all people, particularly the poor, the weak, the sick, and the lonely. Specifically Dn. Jackie will work with Food Programs, Prayer groups, and Pastoral visiting.
