the Rev. Dn. Jacqueline Sanchez-Shabazz begins TODAY, Sunday, May 12!
St. Mary’s has been blessed by the assignment of a Deacon to assist in our worship, prayer, and ministries. Deacon Jackie has most recently served the Church of the Good Shepherd, Manhattan.
What is a Deacon?
Every Christian is called to follow Jesus Christ, serving God, through the power of the Holy Spirit. God calls Deacons to a special ministry of servanthood directly under the bishop. In the name of Jesus Christ, they are to serve all people, particularly the poor, the weak, the sick, and the lonely. Specifically Dn. Jackie will work with Food Programs, Prayer groups, and Pastoral visiting.

Mother’s Day at St. Mary’s
TODAY Sunday, May 12
Join us in recognizing the struggles and joys of women who “mother” in many ways; and support for our losses. Flowers and hand massage for mothers at the coffee hour after service! Followed by the Women’s Prayer Group at 12:15 pm.

Garden Work Day
Saturday, May 18 from 1-3 pm at St. Mary’s
Join a team from Episcopal Charities as we prepare our vegetable beds for this growing season: distributing compost, weeding, planting, watering and sweeping.

Spring Cleaning Yard Sale by St. Mary’s Thrift Shop
Saturday, May 11 from 12-5 pm at St. Mary’s
Shop for a great cause this Spring! We will have baby, children and adult clothing; shoes; sweaters; belts; jackets; suits and ties; dresses and skirts; houseware; and toys for sale.
We also welcome volunteers to assist our Thrift Shop Keeper, Jenny, on the day of.

  • St. Mary’s Thrift Shop: Fridays 2-5, Saturdays 12-5, Sundays 12-3. All proceeds support St. Mary’s Episcopal Church and its mission to serve homeless and hungry people. I Want My Church to Grow: What is Congregational Development?

Special workshops for lay and clergy who want to grow a vital church. Those in the congregation who want to join God in doing a new thing.   • Ecclesia Service & Meal 1st Sundays at 2:00 p.m. in Marcus Garvey Park, volunteers always needed to help prepare and serve the “Second Meal” following the service.
