Preparing for Lent with celebration!                                                                                     Too often Christians are only very serious, where is the fun?                                                                                                                                                                                                                                 Lent 2015 Confirmation, Reception, Reaffirmation of Faith -Learning and Prayer Group     On Saturday mornings in Lent the Rev. Dr. Mary Foulke and Seminarian Marilyn McCord will lead classes exploring the foundational beliefs and practices of the Episcopal Church based on the Nicene Creed. This is an opportunity for those who are new to learn more about the Episcopal Church, for those longtime members to refresh their faith, and for all to experience a close community of learning and prayer. Ecclesia, every First Sunday at 2:00 p.m. in Marcus Garvey Park:                                     St. Mary’s is the lead congregation on the 1st of each month. We always need some volunteers to help     prepare and serve the “Second Meal” following the service.

February is Black History Month and St. Mary’s Annual Poetry Readings Celebration Come join with us February 15th at our 10: am church service and experience Black History like never before!

Birthdays and Baptismal Blessings Every first Sunday of each month                         Healing Prayer Every third Sunday of each month                                                        Men’s Prayer Group meets every last Saturday of the month at 9:00 a.m.                       ECW Prayer Group meets second Sundays following the 10:00 a.m. service.                   All women are welcome.  Please join us!                                                                                       Episcopal Church Women meets every third Sunday of the month following the 10:00 a.m.   Church  Service.                                                                                                               The Vestry meets on the fourth Sunday of every month at 12 noon.  All are invited.

Miriam, Mark and Marx Gospel/Social Activism Group convenes on the last Thursday of every month at 6:00 p.m. in the St. Francis Chapel (back of the sanctuary). Comrades from far and wide welcomed. Spirit and Strife Peer Support Group meets every first Sunday 12:30-1:30 p.m. in the rectory living room. New members always welcome. Come share your burdens and joys in this prayerful circle of support.

Free!  Movies Every Friday Night at St. Mary’s Church at 6:00 pm. Black History Feature: February 20, the color purple (drama, pg 13, 1985, 154 mins.) the life & trials of a young black eooman w/ whoopee Goldberg, oprah Winfrey. (famously snubbed by the Oscars with 11 nominations & 0 wins )         So…Come for the fellowship, the movie, the popcorn, and the fun…         as always volunteers are needed.
