Sunday, November 11, 12 pm: Collage Icon Workshop with artist Simon Carr

Icons are images that Christians use as a focus for prayer, usually portraying a saint or a scene from Jesus’ life. They also often represent Mary the Mother of Jesus. This coffee hour workshop will concentrate on a contemporary version of the theme: Mary Help of Christians. You can bring small images of Mary, and of the events and associations you have with her—personal photos, images from the media, animals, flowers. We will take a sheet of cardboard and cover it with gold paper, then surround Mary with images.

SAVE the dates:

  • 11/21 – Multifaith Thanksgiving Celebration at All Souls Church (88 St. Nicholas Ave) with Sai Baba Manhattan, Mandala Cafe, Harlem Havruta and other partners.
  • 11/29, 6:30 pm – Austin Channing Brown Book Talk at St. Mary’s. I’m Still Here: Black Dignity in a World Made for Whiteness followed by a reception.
